THEY CALL HIM BIG CITY

B.I.G.C.I.T.Y.B.I.G.C.I.T.Y represents the continuous movement of God’s ministry, and the growing effort to re-win young people to Christ. Tired of the negativity that quickly consumes our youth and society, B.I.G. C.I.T.Y’S goal is to rebuild by producing uplifting and self-examining music that will change the way we think about youth.
The name B.I.G.C.I.T.Y stands for:

Bold Influential Gospel 4 Christ Impacting The Youth

B.I.G.C.I.T.Y, born Ronald Goodwin in Philadelphia, PA., started writing poetry following in his older brother’s footsteps. B.I.G.C.I.T.Y has been rapping for over ten years starting with the Young Lions on to 13th Disciple, and now as a solo act. B.I.G.C.I.T.Y believes in supporting the efforts of young people and strives to make his community a better place to live day in and day out. He coaches little league football, High school football at Cherry Hill West and public league basketball at Dunbar Elementary in North Philly and shares the scripture with believers and non-believers alike and can regularly be seen on his block talking to the kids.

With a multifaceted personality and a broad range of musical influences, B.I.G.C.I.T.Y produces a smorgasbord of concepts and topics that are unparalleled. With neck snapping tracks and spiritually provocative lyrics, B.I.G.C.I.T.Y has raised the bar for gospel rap. No longer will Holy Hip-Hop have to take a back seat to the mainstream hip-hop consuming the airwaves today!  His first release on his solo project “Christ is All I Need” enjoyed heavy rotation as number 12 in the country on XM Satellite Radio. Holy Hip Hop has released Holy Hip Hop Volume 4 that featured B.I.G.C.I.T.Y as one of 12 out of 90 artists in 06. His first album was released worldwide Oct. 24th 2006 titled “THE NEW ERA.”

In 2007 B.I.G.C.I.T.Y was given the distinct pleasure of becoming a Radio Personality on Praise 103.9 fm the number 1 gospel station in the Tri-State area. B.I.G.C.I.T.Y was given a 2hr show called “Holy Hip Hop Rhythm and Praise” that aired Oct 21st 2007.

After a show span of 5 months the show was cancelled opening the door for something special, BI.G.C.I.T.Y was giving the evening show April 1st 2008 called the True-Life Experience with B.I.G.C.I.T.Y CeCe McGhee said to B.I.G.C.I.T.Y “you never know what God is willing to do when you’re humble.” That statement is so true because B.I.G.C.I.T.Y has gone from someone with no experience in Radio in April to now being the Producer of his show, the engineer of his show and now the Number one radio show in the Tri-State area from 6pm to 10pm Monday thru Friday. All that hard work paid off B.I.G.C.I.T.Y was nominated for Best Evening Host of the Year by the AIR Awards given to the best Radio Personalities in the Tri-State area. BIG didn’t win but to be nominated by a jury of his peers was really good and only being in Radio a year was a blessing! B.I.G.C.I.T.Y’s sophomore project titled “The Inner City” will hit the streets in spring 2009 and will be one of the most revealing and heartfelt Albums of the Year. With the hit single “My Queen” going Number 1 in the Tri-State, the stage is set for something special. Feb. 2009 his new single “because of what he’s done” is now on the airways and doing well.  When asked by a listener how he got to where he is now BIG said “I’m here because God is still in the business of using unschooled ordinary men. God chose someone who the world thought would be nothing and made him special.”

Does it stop there for him, no? With all that is going on with B.I.G.C.I.T.Y he is now working with a Non Profit organization called HOPE worldwide. Working with kids in the same tough area he grew up in. Helping kids at the age were they need it the most and that’s from K-8th grades. This is not an opportunity but an Obligation Period! A product of the inner city and a survivor of it B.I.G.C.I.T.Y now goes back to give on the very streets he grew up, to let all know that each one should teach one. Working for HOPE worldwide has opened the eyes of B.I.G.C.I.T.Y to know that what he went through all those hungry nights and street fights  to now be in the position to let all know that you can go through the fire and come out shining on the other side.
